Over the weekend, Neil Young made an exciting announcement at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, where he was promoting his film “Journeys” with Jonathan Demme. He declared to rowdy applause that he would be reuniting with garage rock band Crazy Horse!
Skeptical fans immediately turned to the Internet and asked Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina over Facebook if the rumor was true, to which Molina responded, “Yes!”
Crazy Horse began working with Neil Young more than 40 years ago starting in 1968 and backed him on all his great and most remembered rock ‘n’ roll albums, including “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere,” “Rust Never Sleeps, “Zuma,” and “Ragged Glory.”
Most recently, Crazy Horse performed with Young on his 2003 rock opera “Greendale.” Crazy Horse and Young have not performed together since their 2004 tour to support the album, however Neil did play with Ralph Molina on 2007′s “Chrome Dreams II.”
The last time they worked together, Neil Young had this to say, “We’ll just see what happens. Something might happen. You never know. Or something else we don’t even know about could happen, and that would be really good, rather than go back. But if the vibe’s right to go back and grab what’s back there and yank it into the future, that’s a big job.”
