Philadelphia (CBS) – Madonna has built her career as a recording artist around her take-charge attitude and flashy style, but sometimes she takes it a bit far.  This time, however, was for a good cause.

While performing in Madison Square Garden Monday night for her MDNA world tour, The Queen of Pop flashed her derriere to her adoring fans according to eonline.com.  The stunt was an effort to raise funds and awareness for victims of Hurricane Sandy, which left a wake of destruction throughout New York.

The NY Daily News reports that before Madonna took the stage Monday night, she visited the nearby devastation in the Rockaways.  This was in an effort to make good on her promise to bring attention to the disaster area when she and others like Lady Gaga and Patti Smith wrote an open letter to New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg encouraging support for areas hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy.

Monday night’s performance was not the first time Madonna flashed some skin in front of her fans.  Earlier on the tour while performing in Istanbul, she ended her hit “Human Nature” by revealing herself while doing a striptease.

Right before that, she mooned her audience in Rome.  This time, however, she told Madison Square Garden that if they were going to get a glimpse, they “better raise some cash.”
