Two powerhouse women in the music industry teamed up to support the Women’s March on Saturday, January 21st. Producer/songwriter Linda Perry and rocker Pat Benatar released the protest song titled Shine, which is Benatar’s first new song in over a decade.
The single is a nod to the Shine Together movement, meant to bring positive change in government and in the world.
“Even though I can’t be at the Women’s March on Washington in person, I wanted to show my support for everyone marching and the importance of standing up for women’s rights,” Benatar says on her website. “By joining together and lifting each other up, we will show the world that women’s rights must continue to move forward — we’re not going back.”
All proceeds from the single, which is now available on iTunes, Google and Amazon, will benefit the B.A. Rudolph Foundation, which supports women pursuing careers in public service and government.
