Last year, we lost some incredible artists, and Leonard Cohen was one of them. The icon passed away last November at the age of 82, having released his final album You Want It Darker just weeks prior.
Cohen’s son Adam, who worked with his father and collaborator Sammy Slabbinck on the LP, has released a new video for one of the songs from the album, Traveling Light. The song is Cohen’s commentary on aging, with lyrics like “I’m traveling light, it’s au revoir/ My once so bright, my fallen star/ I’m running late, they’ll close the bar/ I used to play one mean guitar.”
The video is made all the more poignant with a video clip of Cohen saying, “I feel a lot stronger, but I’m actually a lot weaker … I wake up in my bed and I feel like, ‘That’s how I used to feel.’ Not exactly but, you know. And then I swing my legs off the bed and I try to stand up!”
The video continues with old and new footage of the music legend, meticulously curated by his son and Slabbinick.
