Abbey Road Creates 360-Degree Mix Of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb

By: Renee Grant

These days, we have all kinds of immersive ways to enjoy our music. We watch our favorite music videos on 4K televisions with surround sound coming through our speakers and think nothing of it, even when we once had mono sound systems and 8-track tapes.

The team at Abbey Road has taken this to the next level by remixing Pink Floyd’s Live 8 performance, making for an experience they say is a full sensory experience. The presentation will be on display at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum in an exhibition called The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains. The installation opens on May 13th.

According to the event website, “The exhibition will celebrate Pink Floyd’s place in history as the cultural landscape changed throughout the 1960s and beyond. Pink Floyd occupied a distinctive experimental space and were the foremost exponents of a psychedelic movement that changed the understanding of music forever. They became one of the most important groups in contemporary music.”

Check out the video below to see the making of the remix and watch the trailer for the full exhibition.
