After the shocking passing of Carrie Fisher last December and the death of her mother Debbie Reynolds just a day later, fans have been hoping for a public memorial where they would all have a chance to grieve for the mother and daughter stars; that chance is coming on March 25th. A private memorial was held for the pair in January.
The memorial will be held at a 1,200 seat theater at Forest Lawn cemetery, where Fisher and Reynolds are buried together.
Singer James Blunt, a close friend of Fisher’s, will debut a tribute song at the service. Blunt recently paid tribute to his friend, calling her his “American Mother.” Fisher was the godmother to his son. The song will be played during a photo montage, Blunt will not perform live.
The memorial will be live-streamed on the personal websites of both women. The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles are also slated to perform, as well as students from the Debbie Reynolds Dance School. Carrie’s beloved dog Gary Fisher will also be at the service.
Sean Lennon, another close friend of Fisher’s, recently released his own tribute to the actress. Bird Song, a song he wrote with Fisher, was posted to his Soundcloud last week.
