After a tumultuous family drama between Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson of the rock group Heart over an alleged assault, Ann’s husband has pleaded guilty to two counts of assault against her teenage nephews.
Dean Wetter, Ann’s husband, was arrested for physically attacking Nancy’s twin sons last summer, and on Friday, April 14th, he was sentenced for the crime seattlepi.com reports.
The 65-year-old Wetter took a plea deal in the assault of Nancy’s 16-year-old boys. He is obligated to pay restitution to his victims, undergo counseling and be on probation, and to have no contact with the children he assaulted. The 364 days in jail time Dean was received as part of the deal has been suspended for now.
The case stems from an incident in which Wetter choked the brothers, Curtis and William Crowe, last August.
According to court documents, the incident began as a verbal argument, but became violent when Wetter “flew into a rage” and “slapped and punched the first boy in the back of the head before grabbing him by the neck.”
“When the boy’s brother intervened, the defendant wrapped his hand around the boy’s neck and strangled him, cutting off his breathing to the point where he thought he was going to die,” court documents state.
Wetter apparently immediately confessed his wrongdoings to the police.
Since the assault, Ann and Nancy have been estranged, but recently Nancy has stated, “We love each other and we’ve weathered all kinds of stuff in the past together no one would ever imagine and this is just one of those things. We just don’t need the high school drama swirling around the camp. We just need to talk to each other.”
