A Gold Record once owned by the late Richard Wright of Pink Floyd is up for auction this week.
Gold records are awarded when sales of an album reach sales of 500,000 copies in the U.S. Wright’s Gold Record is currently awaiting a new home via Nate D. Sanders Auctions. The current bid for the record stands at $20,000 with just one bid placed at the time of this posting.
The award is in original frame, with RIAA framer, New York Frame & Picture Co. label on paper backing. Some nicks and discoloration mar the wood frame but don’t detract from the piece’s condition. A letter from Wright’s second wife Franka Wright authenticates the record.
Wright’s Platinum Record for The Wall sold in 2005 for over $40,000.
