Janet Jackson Loves Being A New Mom

By: Renee Grant

Pop icon Janet Jackson gave birth to her first child at 50 and is reportedly loving life as a new mom, according to long-time friend and producer Jimmy Jam.

Jackson’s son Eissa was born in January of this year (2017), and months later, Jackson confirmed her split from her husband and Eissa’s father Wissam Al Mana.

Despite the breakup, Jimmy Jam tells ETOnline that Jackson is “so happy” to be a new mother. Jackson currently lives in London but keeps in touch with the famed producer via text messages and FaceTime, giving him a chance to talk with little Eissa who he considers to be his “nephew.”

“I get FaceTime (calls) at like two in the morning, usually when I’m wrapping up in the studio,” he says. “It’s always just Eissa (on FaceTime), she’s in the background somewhere. He’s the cutest baby in the history of babies.”

Jackson shared a touching photo of baby Eissa on social media and her website back in April.

Jimmy Jam also adds that, while Jackson has been taking some time to herself since having her son and her split with Al Mana, she is eager to get back to work on recording new music and resuming her tour which she postponed during her pregnancy. He says motherhood has renewed creativity in the Control singer.

“A whole different reservoir of creativity, of cadence, of love, and all these things that have always been with you but it doesn’t really come out until (you become a parent),” he says. “She’s recognizing that.”

Earlier this month, Jackson and Al Mana headed to court to begin divorce proceedings. Reportedly, Jackson left “in good spirits,” while Al Mana was described as seeming “somber” after the hearing.

Hopefully, the split ends amicably and Jackson is back to creating great music again soon!
