Gamers, rejoice… a new Atari game system is being released and it looks pretty slick!
At this year’s E3 conference, the company teased that the console would happen, but now, new pictures of the system have surfaced. The company says the gaming system will be released in a wood grain version, reminiscent of its classic consoles, and a sleek black and red version.
In an email to Atari fans, the company revealed more of what features can be expected from the Ataribox, like SD card support, an HDMI port, and 4 USB ports, presumably for plugging in the controllers.
Ataribox is presumed to support classic Atari games, much like Nintendo did with its limited edition NES and SNES Classic systems last winter, which quickly became the most sought-after Christmas toy of the season. The company also says “current content” will be available but there’s no word yet on what that content will be.
While no information on pricing, release dates is out, the buzz surrounding the system could reach fever pitch by this holiday season.
“We know you are hungry for more details; on specs, games, pricing, timing,” reads an Atari statement. “We’re not teasing you intentionally; we want to get this right, so we’ve opted to share things step by step as we bring this to life, and to listen closely to the Atari community feedback as we do so.”
