By: Renee Grant

In a pretty cool case of deja┬ávu, Bill Murray got to relive his wildly popular 1993 film Groundhog Day… he took in the Broadway show based on the movie earlier this week.

A rep reveals that he even cried a few times during the performance!

Murray attended the show with his brother Brian Doyle Murray, who played the character of Buster in the original film.

The story follows Phil Connors, played by Andy Carl, a Pittsburgh weatherman, who can’t stop reliving Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, PA. Barrett Doss plays Rita Hanson, originally portrayed by Andie MacDowell in the 90’s classic.

The musical opened in April at the August Wilson Theatre and has been nominated for seven Tony Awards, including best musical, best performance by a leading actor in a musical, and best score. The show features music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by the man who penned the movie, Danny Rubin.
