SNES Classic Pre-Orders Surge Ahead Of Fall Shopping Season

By: Renee Grant

While we all languish in the last few official weeks of summer, stores are already gearing up for the holiday shopping season (it gets earlier every year, doesn’t it?). One of the hottest toys of the year sold out overnight, and if you don’t pre-order yours soon, you may risk the battle of Black Friday this year.

The gadget du jour? Nintendo’s SNES Classic system, similar to their release of an NES Classic system last year, which featured some of our favorite nostalgic games, from Super Mario to Zelda. The SNES Classic is a plug-and-play system that includes some of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System’s best titles ready to go out of the box.

The mini-console’s¬†official page features six retailers where the system will be available including Amazon and Best Buy, and both online pre-orders sold out within 30 minutes of launch. GameStop, Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us haven’t opened their pre-order sales just yet, but if the other two are any indication, you may want to set an alert for when their sales go live or you could miss it.

The console will ship September 29th, preloaded with 21 games, 2 wired controllers, an HDMI cable, USB charging cable and an AC adapter. The cost will run about $80. The system will also include the ability to rewind gameplay, helping users gather missed items, easter eggs and more.

Happy shopping!
