Veterans’ Day Observance

November 9, 2013

This veteran’s Day Observance will include a Presentation of Colors, members of local scouting organizations, memorial of township veterans, recognizing attending veterans and members of currently serving military. Navy veteran George Myers will be honored at recognition program to follow at TownshipVeteransPark. The celebration begins at 9 a.m.

Veterans Day Parade

Parade will begin at 1 p.m. and any veteran is welcome to march or participate. Following the parade there will be a wreath-laying ceremony; refreshments at VeteransSquarePark.

Camden County Veterans Day Observance

Battleship New Jersey

A Veteran’s Day ceremony will be held on the foreword deck of the battleship at 11 a.m. Speakers include retired Col. Edwin W. Simpson and former deputy chief of staff during Desert Storm Gen. Fred Franks. The ceremony will conclude with casting a memorial wreath into the Delaware River.

Valley Forge National Historical Park

The national park will honor all American veterans this Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. with a Commemoration Ceremony at the National Memorial Arch. Concluding the event, an Oath of Enlistment Ceremony will induct twenty new recruits into the United States military. Park rangers, volunteers and uniformed servicemen will remember our nation’s various conflicts at the Muhlenberg Brigade area from 12p.m. to 3 p.m., and both trolley tours and ranger-led walks will be available from 11:20 a.m. to 1:20 p.m.

The National Constitution Center

The National Constitution Center will honor the dedication and sacrifices of the brave men and women who have answered the Constitution’s call to “provide for the common defense.” Special events begin with a flag-raising ceremony at 9:15 a.m. on the museum’s front lawn, followed by a moment of silence and wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m., followed by craft activities, Thank-A-Vet letter-writing, wreath-laying ceremony, and a flag-folding activity.

Admission: FREE with museum admission. General museum admission is $5 on Veterans Day courtesy of The Macy’s Foundation. Veterans are FREE. General admission price cannot be combined with a group discount.

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial

Media’s 54 Annual Veteran’s Day Parade

A brigade of motorcycles will lead a parade of veterans, first responders and 10 area high school marching bands. A ceremony will be held at the Delaware County Courthouse steps where this year’s essay contest winners will read their papers followed by keynote speaker John Nagl, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. The march will begin at 11:11 a.m.
